Products Pass Alert
The Pass Alert is the first all digital wireless communication transceiver system for the off-road racing community. A pair or more of these units can communicate wirelessly and transmit digital data over ranges of greater than 100 yards - the communication speed is 9600 baud. The effective range of the system can be software controlled from 10 yards to 100 yards. This allows the device to be used for passing and check point functions during the race.
The Pass Alert uses digital transmission protocols which are superior to analog techniques for reliable operation. Digital transmission technology eliminates false triggering, allows for data transmission, and makes the operation very reliable in high radio interference environments such as Off Road Racing.
These unit use an embedded high performance 20 million instructions per second (MIPS) processor, 200 characters of user memory storage for timing data such as the vehicles start time, check point list, or other information. Each has a unique Unit ID number built into the software.
The Pass Alert uses very little power in the listening mode 48 hour plus, operating time. Two models are currently available: one a 9 volt battery powered system and the other is a 12VDC unit connected directly to the race power by a cable (12 to 24 volts, unregulated). The transmitter is automatically turned off when not transmitting information to conserve power.
Two switches provide simple control of the Pass Alerts functions:
- A pushbutton switch for temporary code transmission, for example the Pass Alert function.
- A toggle switch activates continuous code transmission such as Man Down.
Current Race Car applications include:
- Pass Alert
- Man Down
- Checkpoint Alert
Future applications:
- Automatic Checkpoint Alert and Logging (with Iridium Satellite and/or laptop computer)
- Automatic Race start/finish timing and logging.
